Muhsinah has been all over the soul music blog sphere in recent weeks. A graduate of Duke Ellington School of Music, she has a gift for blending jazz based chord progressions fused with a gritty soul edge. In her most her most recent video, Yiy, she teamed up with South African film director Phetogo Tshepo Mahasha. I found this video and was blown away not only by the concept but the entire execution. To me it has almost an M.C Escher meets Amy Whinehouse feel.
